This video provides an overview of our current food system and the food bill, from a youth perspective.

Youth Food Bill of Rights 

The Youth Food Bill of Rights is what YOUTH believe our food systems should look like. It's a work in progress. It's created by the YOUTH. It's a statement to all. It's a tool for change!

 

The Youth Food Bill of Rights was written by over 120 youth at a gathering hosted by Rooted in Community (RIC) in 2011. On this site, you will find:

  • A research-backed analysis of each statement in the Bill of Rights.

  • Ways to get involved in the YFBR campaign!
     

Rooted in Community

The Rooted in Community National Network (RIC) is a grassroots network that empowers young people to take 

leadership in their own communities. We are a diverse movement of youth and adults working together and

committed to fostering healthy communities and food justice through urban and rural agriculture, community

gardening, food security, and related environmental justice work.

The Color of Food

The 26-page resource outlines the intersections of race, gender, and class of workers in the food system. It includes useful charts and statistics that can be used as educational tools about the food system and food justice.

Snackin' Fresh - Philly Youth Movement

Snackin' Fresh is a youth-led initiative based out of the Food Trust in Philadelphia, PA. It aims to spread the word about healthy eating through a blog, comic books, and special labeling for healthy foods. They have a youth network of student leaders and citywide Health Corner Store Initiative, which is a model for improving access to healthy food in communities across the country.

This 2 minute video is an overview of the situation of food waste and hunger worldwide, providing statistics of each situation.
